From where the journey of Yala Peak climb begins?

Your trek begins in Syabrubesi, following the Langtang Khola upstream into the valley. Passing through lush forests and alpine pastures, you’ll reach Lama Hotel and continue on to Kyanjin Gompa, where you’ll pause for acclimatization. The final stretch takes you to Yala Base Camp, where you’ll spend time training before making your summit push.

Upon landing at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, you’ll complete the visa formalities and collect your luggage before heading to the arrival hall exit. Just outside, your trip leader will be waiting with a Sherpa Summit placard to welcome you and escort you to your hotel.

Once you’ve settled in, enjoy a refreshing welcome drink. In the evening, your trek leader will meet you in the hotel lobby to brief you about the journey ahead. Afterwards, you may like to take a short stroll down the street to get acquainted with your surroundings and soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Kathmandu.

Today you embark on a scenic nine-hour drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, a charming trading town that serves as the gateway to the Langtang region. The journey begins with a 30 km stretch, leading you past picturesque villages nestled along the banks of the Trishuli River.

As the road winds higher, breathtaking views of the Himalayas unfold before you. The panorama includes the majestic Annapurnas, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and the striking peaks of the Langtang range. By evening, you arrive in Syabrubesi, where you’ll settle into your lodge for an overnight stay.

Our trek begins by crossing the Bhote Koshi River and following the Langtang Khola upstream. The trail ascends gradually, leading you through Bamboo and areas affected by past landslides. From Bamboo (1,960m), you continue with a gentle descent to Rimche (2,400m), situated along the banks of the Langtang Khola.

The walk is filled with lush forest scenery, and if fortune favours you, you may spot rare wildlife such as red pandas, playful monkeys, or even bears along the way. By evening, you reach Lama Hotel, where you’ll rest for the night surrounded by the tranquil sounds of the river and forest.

After breakfast, you continue your ascent, catching occasional glimpses of the majestic Langtang Lirung through breaks in the forest canopy. At Ghore Tabela (3,000m), the trail opens out of the forest, offering a change of scenery. Along the way, you may spot playful white monkeys swinging through the trees and hear the cheerful songs of local birds.

The trail climbs gently as the valley begins to widen, passing seasonal herders’ settlements where livestock graze in the high pastures during summer. Shortly before reaching Langtang Village, you have the chance to visit a small monastery.

Langtang Village, the headquarters of Langtang National Park, is characterized by traditional Tibetan-style houses with flat roofs, surrounded by stone walls that enclose fields of buckwheat, potatoes, wheat, turnips, and barley. Here, you settle in for the night, immersed in the rich cultural and natural beauty of the region.

The trail today winds gently through lush yak pastures and traditional villages, passing Muna and Singdun along the way. You cross a wooden cantilever bridge before climbing a moraine that opens into a broad valley.

As you ascend further, the path leads you to Kyanjin Gompa, a beautiful settlement surrounded by towering peaks. Here, you’ll find a small monastery and a government-run cheese factory, where you can taste some of the region’s fresh, locally made cheese. Today’s trek takes you to Yala Peak Base Camp (5,033m), a journey of around six hours from Kyanjin Gompa. The trail leads through scenic alpine pastures before ascending a rocky path that gradually opens up to the base camp.

In addition to the towering Langtang Lirung, you’ll be treated to sweeping vistas of Yala Peak, Ganchempo, Naya Kanga, Tserko Ri, and several other majestic summits. You pass through forests of oak and hemlock before gradually descending into vibrant rhododendron groves and open pastures. The trail then climbs gently toward the ridge at Phoprang Danda, offering sweeping vistas of the surrounding landscape. Continuing onward, you pass a few Buddhist monasteries before finally arriving at Syabrubesi village, where you spend the night and celebrate the completion of your trek.

Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you check into your hotel. The remainder of the day is free for you to unwind, explore the city at your own pace, or simply reflect on the incredible adventure you’ve just completed. Overnight at the hotel.

Essential Information

Difficult

Yala Peak is considered one of the easiest trekking peaks in Nepal, but it still requires good fitness and preparation for altitude. It’s non-technical, meaning you don’t need advanced climbing skills, but you’ll be walking long hours at high elevation, which can be physically demanding. The level of hardness is moderate to high and you must be able to trek 5-6 hours daily in thin air. Furthermore, trails through Langtang Valley with gradual acclimation, rocky paths, and some steep sections. It is best for beginners in Himalayans climbing.

Altitude Sickness

The Yala trekking peak climbing is situated at an elevation 5,550 meters above sea level. So of course there may a high chance of getting altitude sickness symptoms to you due to high elevation. So, before going to peak climb, be prepared to keep your body healthy fit, and fine in every situation. Do regular exercise related to cardiovascular, increase your walking levels, and boost your strength as well as run every day carrying a 10 kg bag drink plenty of water energy bars, and eat meals and seasonal fruits on time to keep your body healthy, and fresh as well as take outdoor training for the peak climbing such as natural rock climbing, artificial wall climbing, and mountaineering or climbing courses. If you have done these all and have basic previous experience of trekking then it will help you to complete the Yala Peak summit. As a trekker, you obviously need to know knowledge about altitude sickness symptoms and their prevention while trekking, traveling, peak climbing, and expeditions so, here we have mentioned the altitude sickness symptoms which can occurs in the high elevation areas and their prevention methods below, they are as follows:-

AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) Symptoms

  • Vomiting, headache, fatigue/malaise, nausea, difficulty in breathing, dizziness, insomnia, loss of appetite, etc.

HACE (High Altitude Cerebral Edema) Symptoms

  • Several headaches, Weakness, loss of coordination, slurred speech, disorientation, memory loss, hallucinations (altered mental status) loss of consciousness, seizure, etc.

HAPE (High Altitude Pulmonary Edema) Symptoms

  • Dry cough, chest tightness or pain, cough, dyspnea at rest, decreased exercise tolerance, pink frothy, shortness of breath, etc.

Preventive Measures

  • Stay hydrated, ascend slowly, maintain your pace, listen to your body, get abundant rest, drink plenty of water using water purification tablets, eat carbohydrate-rich food, and do not drink alcohol or smoke while ascending and descent as soon as possible if the condition is worst.

Requirement

To join the Yala Peak climb, you’ll need to be in good physical condition, as the journey involves several days of trekking and climbing. Prior experience with high-altitude treks is not mandatory, and our carefully designed itinerary makes it possible for beginners to participate. We’ve included proper rest and acclimatization days to ensure safety and comfort throughout the trip.

While technical climbing experience isn’t required, you should be mentally and physically prepared for the challenges of the Himalayas. Determination, a positive mind-set, and teamwork are essential qualities for success. At base camp, your guide will conduct a climbing course to teach you the correct use of equipment and basic techniques, giving you the confidence needed for the ascent.

Best Seasons for Yala Peak Climb

The ideal time to climb Yala Peak is during autumn (October–November) and spring (April–May). These seasons offer the most stable weather and clear mountain views, making the climb both safer and more enjoyable.

As you ascend higher each day, temperatures drop significantly. Expect cold nights ranging from 5°C to –5°C, while daytime temperatures remain relatively warm, between 10°C and 20°C. Mornings are usually crisp and clear, with clouds forming in the afternoon and dispersing again by evening.

Climbing during the monsoon or winter months is not recommended. Heavy rains, poor visibility, and snow-covered high passes can make the journey difficult and unsafe.

For the best experience, April, October, and November are the most popular months. You can select the date that best fits your schedule.

Accommodation & food during the Trek

On this 14-day Yala Trekking Peak Climb, at first on arrival and departure day you will spend the night at 3 star hotel likewise, during you are trekking period you spends night at teahouse, lodges, and hotel. Lodges, teahouses, and hotels are well maintained with good quality services and luxury accommodations facilities with proper meals as per the requirements. The rooms are available single rooms with attached bathrooms, twin beds with attached bathrooms, and couple beds with attached bathrooms or sharing basis. Furthermore, both Western-style toilets and Indian facilities are available for trekkers even if you want shared bathrooms that are also available with warm hospitality services which makes you feel like you are in home. At last, while trekking and peak climbing carry all toiletries with you including toilet paper, and hand sanitizers for you are personal healthcare.

Usually takes, 14 day to complete without rushing but if you want to minimize the day in Kathmandu then we also customizes itinerary as per your requirement making to finish it in short time period with proper acclimatize for peak summit successful.

The best seasons to climb Yala Peak are spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November), when the weather is stable, skies are clear, and temperatures are moderate. Preparation involves physical fitness training, acclimatization, proper gear, and basic mountaineering skills like using crampons, ice axe, and ropes

Physical Fitness

  • Train for endurance: long hikes, cardio, and leg strength.
  • Be comfortable walking 5–7 hours daily with a backpack at altitude.

Acclimatization

  • Follow a gradual itinerary with rest days (e.g., at Kyanjin Gompa).
  • Helps prevent altitude sickness at 5,732m.
