From today your trek's journey starts toward Syabrubesi enjoying the beauty of farmlands, crossing the amazing Tirshuli River. From Tirshuli bazaar you can see the Mansulu massif and Ganesh Himal's breathtaking scenic beauty.

The road is a bit rough from this point, so be prepared after a long drive you will reach Dunche bazaar, where you have to issue the trekking permit for the Langtang Valley trek and national park then drive toward Syabrubesi for an overnight stay in the lodge. The total distance it covered is around 122km/75miles and the time it takes approximately 7 to 8 hours.

The lovely morning starts at Syabrubesi, and today’s trek is going to be a bit long.The distance it occupied is nearly 11.3km/7miles and the time it takes almost 6 hours. Trek leads you to Lama Hotel from Syabrubesi crossing bridges and the trail will be steep up and down, on the way you may see yaks and the mules.

The trek takes continues from the lush forests of rhododendrons and dense jungles along with Langtang Riversides, crossing the wooden bridges to climb up and reach Mundu village, and an overnight stay will be here at Mundu in a teahouse or Lodge.

Today’s trek leads you to Langtang village. The distance it covers is around 14.7km/8miles and the time it takes nearly 7 hours. The trail ascends through dense forests of oak, maple, and rhododendron as you gain altitude, you will notice a change in vegetation and a spectacular view of the Langtang Lirung Peak (7,227m).

To reach Langtang Village from Lama Hotel you will pass through Ghoda Tabela, which means “horse stable” and continue to climb, eventually reaching Langtang village. This village was severely by the 2015 earthquake but has been rebuilt and now offers a heartwarming glimpse into the resilience and hospitality of the local Tamang people.

Trek starts toward Kyanjin Gompa. The distance it covers is about 5.7km/3.5miles and the time it takes close to 3 hours. The trail is relatively short and allows for a relaxed pace to acclimatize. You will pass through small settlements and yak pastures along the way and you will enjoy panoramic views of the Langtang Himalayas.

Kyanjin Gompa has huge settlements of the Hyolmo community people and the area people are followers of the Buddhism religion. Here you can visit an ancient Buddhist monastery, stupas, and a cheese factory as well as their unique cultural diversity. You spend your overnight stay in the lodge enjoying local foods.

The beautiful morning starts at Kyanjin Gompa, the valley provides amazing views of the surrounding snow-capped mountains including Langtang Lirung Peak (7,227m), Naya Khang/Ganja Chuli (5,863m), and Ganchenpo Peak (6,387m). Today is your acclimatization day, at Kyangjin Gompa so to keep your body adjust with high altitude environment, you will hike up Tsergo-Ri which lies at an elevation of 4,984m above sea level, this hike is challenging but provides breathtaking views of the nearby mountains and Kyangjin Valley. After creating beautiful memories, taking photographs, and enjoying with surrounding scenery you will slowly hike and descend back at Kyanjin Gompa.

Today you will retrace back from Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel following the same path crossing the bridges and hiking through forests. The distance it covers is about 14.5km/9miles and time it takes approximately 6 to 7 hours.  As you descend, you will notice the air becoming warmer and the landscape changing back to lush forests.

Today you continue descends toward Syabrubesi the trail is a mix of downhill and flat sections through the forest and passes through bamboo enjoy the lush green surroundings and arriving in Syabrubesi. Good to Know

  • Your Langtang Valley short trek itinerary can be 8 days but the trek will be fast and cannot take plenty of time to spend so we made a 10-day trek itinerary.
  • The famed British mountaineer and travel writer, Bill Tilman (1898-1977), called this Langtang Valley “one of the world’s most beautiful valleys.”
  • If you cannot join in the winter season Langtang treks, we highly recommend you in the autumn and spring seasons when the weather will be so clear with blue skies and to experience snow-capped mountains, and glacier valleys from close.
  • The trekking trail is moderate to challenging and there may or may not chance of losing trekkers while trekking in the langtang region.
  • The local people in the Langtang Valley are mostly of Tibetan origin, and as per the legend, it used to say that the valley was first discovered by a lama, a teacher of Tibetan Buddhism, who was pursuing a runaway yak. Lang” is Tibetan for “lama” while “tang” is Tibetan for “follow.”
  • Langtang National Park is located in north-central Nepal. It was eatablished in 1976 AD, as Nepal's first Himalayan National Park in Nepal and  the country's fourth protected area.

Altitude Sickness

Altitude sickness is a real concern in the Langtang Valley tTek. While the maximum altitude isn’t as high as some other Himalayan treks, it’s still significant enough to cause issues if not properly managed. Here are some altitude symptoms and prevention tips they are as follows:

  • Symptoms: Headache, nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, fatigue, dizziness, shortness of breath, and difficulty sleeping.
  • Prevention and treatment: Stay hydrated, ascend slowly, maintain your pace, listen to your body, get abundant rest, drink plenty of water using water purification tablets, eat carbohydrate-rich food, and do not drink alcohol or smoke while ascending, if symptoms worsen, descent down as soon as possible.

Travel Insurance for Langtang Valley Short Trek

Travel insurance in Nepal is compulsory for all trekkers. It helps to cover the medical insurance of trekkers if he or she get injuries during their trekking. Likewise, it ensures that you get quick helicopter evacuation and medical assistance services in case of an emergency. Langtang Valley Short Trek Permits

In the Langtang Valley trek, you need these two cards for your safety and security during your trekking time. Langtang National Park Entry Permit and TIMS card (Trekkers information management system) are required for all trekkers while trekking in this region.

The Best Time to Trek at Langtang Valley

  • Spring (March to May): Rhododendrons bloom, clear skies and moderate temperature.
  • Autumn (September to November): Best visibility, stable weather, and post-monsoon lushness.
  • Winter (December to February): The winter season is commonly called off to trek in the Langtang region because of snowfall, on the snow and trails are not seen. But if you are well-prepared then the winter season will be the best to experience the snowfall visually.

Accommodation & Food during the Trek

On this 10-day Langtang Valley Short Trek, you will spend the night at a teahouse, lodges, and hotel. Lodges, teahouses, and hotels are simple accommodations with proper meals. On average most rooms have twin beds, few have single beds, and have attached bathrooms overall in the western-style toilets available facility for trekkers. But few may have shared bathrooms. Spend the night in lodges, teahouses, or hotels. While trek carry all toiletries with you including toilet paper.

  • Service in the Lodge: Services like hot showers, Wi-Fi, and charging are available at an extra cost which is not included in the trekking packages.
  • Drinking Water: You can either buy boiled water in the lodges or make sure that if you do not want to buy water then you can use water purification tablets to filter it further.
  • Snacks: Buy light snacks in Kathmandu for the trek. Pack nuts, energy bars, chocolates, and other things you love to eat during your trek journey.
