Machhapuchchhre Model Trek

This itinerary follows the Mardi Himal High Route (Machhapuchhre Model Trek), a hidden gem in the Annapurna region. Unlike the more crowded trails, this route offers a rugged, "off-the-beaten-path" experience through rhododendron forests and high-altitude pastures (Kharkas) with incredible views of Mt. Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).

The Machhapuchhre Model Trek is a premier example of sustainable "Village-Based Tourism." Since its introduction by TAAN (Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal), it has gained a reputation as the perfect alternative for those seeking the beauty of the Annapurna region without the crowds of the more famous Mardi Himal or ABC routes.

Explore the Machhapuchhre Model Trek: A Hidden Himalayan Gem

The Machhapuchhre Model Trek is one of Nepal’s newest trekking adventures, specifically designed by TAAN to offer a blend of breathtaking Himalayan vistas and authentic cultural immersion. Known as the "Fishtail Model Trek," this route is a sanctuary for those who wish to step off the beaten path and experience the Annapurna region in its most pristine form.

Trip Highlights

The Journey at a Glance

The trekking starts at Mardi Pul, winding through the scenic villages of Lachok and Ribhan. Over the following days, you will ascend to high-altitude pastures like Chichemle Kharka and Kumai, eventually reaching the stunning viewpoint of Korchon (3,699m). On the descent, you will visit the organic tea gardens of Lwang Village, where you can enjoy local hospitality and perhaps a traditional cultural performance.
